Hammermills & Size Reduction Processing Equipment
Since 1981, Blue Tech has been an industry-recognized leader in the development and manufacture of standard and custom-designed size reduction processing equipment. Blue Tech produces an extensive variety of size reduction equipment, including Air Purge Classifier Mills (APCMs), shredders, crushers, as well as hammermills. The hammermills manufactured by Blue Tech are available in horsepower ranges from ¼ horsepower to 250 horsepower, depending on the client's application and requirements. Blue Tech hammermills are constructed of rugged fabricated steel or stainless steel bodies, for extended and reliable life and performance.
A hammermill machine is used to shred, grind and crush material into fine particles. The basic components of a hammermill are:
- A delivery device
- Hammers
- Rods
- Rotor
- Screen
- Take away system/chute
The hammermill is basically a steel drum with a horizontal or vertical "X-shaped" rotor that has a series of hammers mounted on it. The hammers swing at high speeds on the ends of the rotor, shredding the material into fine particles, which then fall through the screen (either air-assisted or by gravity feed). The size of the screen mesh ensures the shredded material particles are a certain dimension.
All Blue Tech hammermill hammers are constructed of light or heavy forged steel, or light forged stainless steel, depending on the customer's specifications.
Advantages of hammermill machines include:
- Easy to use – no extensive training required
- Able to shred, grind and crush to a wide range of particle sizes
- Can be used for a wide variety of materials
- Minimal and easy maintenance
- Cheaper than comparable machines, such as a roller mill
- Hammermill particles will be typically spherical in size
- Materials can be shredded or ground at a high rate
Hammermill units can be used to grind and shred many materials, such as:
- Plastics
- Rubber
- Sugar
- Herbs & Spices
- Corn Starch
- Pharmaceuticals
- Cattle Feed
- Bakery & Confectionary Ingredients
- Woodchips
- Minerals
- Chemicals
Blue Tech standard hammermills are available in the following sizes:
- 1A
- B2
- C3
- D4
- F5
